Why Jon Lester may not be returning to the Red Sox

From MLS data I learn that Jon Lester listed his house in Newton on September 28 and sold it on November 5 for the asking price of $1.85 million. So what does that mean for the Red Sox’s chances of re-signing Lester?

The Sox have reportedly offered $110-120 million for 6 years and that is considered a low offer. If Lester does sign, for $20 million a year or more, maybe he is planning to move from Newton to Brookline like Tom Brady and planning to spend Brady-like money on a mansion there. He will be able to afford it.

For $1.85 million the buyer of Lester’s house got 5 bedrooms, 4  1/2 bathrooms and a wine cellar on half an acre directly on the Charles River. Not bad.
