John Kerry or a 6 car heated garage?

Yesterday I posted How much would you pay to be John Kerry’s neighbor? about a house in Louisburg Square in Boston, listed by Brewster & Berkowitz (www.brewberk.com).

Today comes a listing from Robert Paul Properties (www.RobertPaul.com) of a nearby Beacon Hill house at 77 Chestnut Street. Here’s a comparison between the two houses:

Now I am no expert on Beacon Hill, but especially after the winter we have had, “an interior motor court with herringbone brick and marble floors can accommodate private parking for up to six vehicles” would seem pretty attractive.

But maybe the difference in price is not because of a tangible feature, such as a motor court, but something intangible, some “je ne sais quoi”. Perhaps it is the opportunity, one snowy February morning, to be able to say:”Morning John, I know it’s your turn to shovel today, but I’d be happy to lend a hand.”

And what is the value of that? Priceless.
