The Best Streets in Greater Boston – really?
One of real estate’s fascinations is that it is subjective: what I love you may hate and vice versa. So it should come as no surprise that I might differ on the pick for the Best Street in Marblehead. I accept the words of the writer that Atlantic Avenue is three miles long, but the Best Street in Marblehead?
How does anybody select that? A more interesting question might be: who gets to select the street? In 2014 some 73 different real estate firms representing 93 offices sold 1 or more (and for a majority of those it was 1) single family home or condo in Marblehead. Neither number included the firm mentioned in the article.
So Boston Globe: please feel free to call any number of agents active in Marblehead. Better still, come and visit. I’ll show you Foster Street or Ocean Ave or Harbor Ave or Beacon Street or … well you get my point. We shall, of course, drive along Atlantic Avenue on the way. There are indeed some very nice houses on Atlantic, especially as one first comes into town, but the Best Street in Marblehead? I don’t think so.

I agree – this is a truly bizarre choice.
